Raise your hand if you have a child obsessed with unicorns right now!

Hello, huge hands up for me! My daughter is in a full-out unicorn-crazed phase right now. We cannot literally go nowhere without running into something unicorn-themed. At the sight at any new unicorn, we are embraced with the five-year-old high-pitched squeal of delight.

Why not embrace the unicorn phase of our children by giving them some great unicorn-themed books to love and adore? To start, I want to share the books: A Unicorn Named Sparkle and A New Friend for Sparkle. Both of these booths are written by Amy Young.

A Unicorn Named Sparkle introduces us to the unexpected character of Sparkle. Sparkle is a unicorn, but he is not one that you would expect. For starters, Sparkle appears to look way more like a goat than a unicorn. He eats everything, and he doesn't seem to be able to follow any of the instructions from his owner, Lucy.

Lucy grows frustrated with Sparkle. He was not the unicorn she had always dreamed about. After many failed attempts to try to get Sparkle to behave, Lucy decides it is best to send Sparkle back. However, second thoughts start to hit her when she starts to realize just how much she and Sparkle have started to bond and become friends.

A New Friend for Sparkle is the second Sparkle story, and it gives us more time with our favorite, little Unicorn. Sparkle is the unicorn friend of Lucy. Today, Lucy has her human friend, Cole coming over, and she is excited to introduce her two friends to each other.

Things get off to a rough start after Cole and Lucy forget to include Sparkle in their playtime. Angered by being left-out, Sparkle kicks over the kids' blocks and pop's Lucy's ball with his horn. Lucy naturally sends Sparkle to time out due to his poor choices.

While Sparkle is in time out, Cole decides to get out his drum. Entranced by the drumming sounds and rhythms, Sparkle leaves time out to join Cole in dancing to the fun music. Soon, it is Lucy who finds herself upset and yelling about being left out. But thanks to trusty Sparkle, the three are all soon enjoying the drumming and dancing together.
