The Legend of Rock, Paper, Scissors by Drew Daywalt

This book is hilarious. I think that if you read it right now that you will laugh. You might tell people that you didn’t laugh. But deep down, I know that you laughed a little bit because this book is amazing! It has an awesome lesson, it uses imagination, and it will just crack you up!

I think that Drew Daywalt and Adam Rex did an amazing job. The pictures are awesome. I believe that anyone could read it and love it. Whether they know how to read, or don't, there will always be something for the readers to laugh at. For example, you can see this in the text when Rock says,” You, good Sir, look like a fuzzy, little butt.” to an apricot. I know for sure that I would have laughed at that age. In fact, I laughed a little when I typed it just now.

Another reason why you need to get this book is because of the lesson of this story. The lesson is that your child needs to know how it feels to lose before they truly know how it feels to win. An example from the text is when Rock, Paper, and Scissors all say, “Can noone beat me?” If we only win at sports, you would think that it would be awesome. but really it would get very boring and you wouldn't want to play sports anymore.

In my opinion I would recommend this book for 2nd-5th mostly because it has some pretty big words for 1st grade or younger. I mean, you could read it to them. But if want them to read it on their own, I would definitely suggest it for these four grades.

Another reason I would suggest this book for older elementary kids is that the book is pretty long. I do not know if they will be able to read it, or if they will have the patience to read it.

One other thing is that they may not know what is going on because it kinda starts with one person, then goes to another, then there is one more person after the second one. But other then those three things, I think your kid will like this book!
