Can I Be Your Dog? by Troy Cummings

February 4, 2019

Do you love dogs? Do you love dog books?! If so, this awesome book called Can I Be Your Dog?  by Troy Cummings. This is  a book about a dog named Arfy who is looking for a human (or owner). He is looking on a street named Butternut Street. This book will make you want a dog even more then before!

This book is written as a letter. Each page goes between Arfy writing the letter to a new possible owner and next page with the letter from the person he wrote it to.

I love the illustrations in this book! Arfy as a illustration is so awesome! He is so cute. I could cuddle with him for a million years! The words in the story look handwritten or mouth written in Arfy’s case. I just love the different fonts from the different people that written back to Arfy’s letters he wrote to them.

This booking is heart tugging and cute! This book wants me to get a dog even more! This book is all about dogs and people. Dogs looking for homes like Arfy and people looking for dogs like me. The letters Arfy wrote are very persuasive. If Arfy wrote a letter to me, I would respond “YES!”.

There's a surprise at the end of this book, and it is a happy ending I can tell you that! The author included the name of the main character and gave nicknames to the places he is writing to. It is so cool! A lot of books or stories have a moral and I already know this books moral! It is “Never Give Up," like  another book I have read called The Gingerbread Man Loose at the Zoo. When Arfy got a negative response over and over,  he never gave up!

The book Can I Be Your Dog? By Troy Cummings is so awesome! It is one of the best books I’ve read so far, and trust me I have read a ton of books! The age range for this book is K-5th. Just because it is written as easy text.

Does Arfy ever get in owner? Read to find out!
