Skylark by Patrice MacLachlan

November 5, 2018

Don’t you hate when there is not enough water? Well, in Patricia MacLachlan’s book Skylark, Anna’s family doesn't even have enough water to water a garden! Her family has to use it wisely. Eventually, Anna and her family realize that it is too hard to live without water. Imagine if you had to live without water for a long time? I can’t. Skylark was a great book. You should give it a try.

In Patricia MacLachlan’s book Skylark, Anna and her family have to survive many difficult moments. The biggest thing in the story is a drought and they have to use the water wisely. To add on, during the drought, Sarah’s birthday is coming soon. She really wants to have a child. She is not that happy because the drought is getting really bad because there was a fire that was caused by the dust and heat and they used a lot of water to put it out.

Sarah and Papa decided that Sarah, Anna, and Caleb are going to go to Maine, but Papa is not coming because he needs to take care of the farm. When they get to Maine, they are all sad about Papa. Sarah has not seen her brother, William in 2 years and she is so happy to see him again! One day, it rained in Maine but not where Papa was. He was praying for rain, but he did not get any. Read to find out if all their problems are solved at the end.

I would recommend this book to anyone who needs a favorite book because this was mine. If I would rate this book, I would give it a 5 star! This is a great book because it teaches you about real life and how some things are really hard. If you are someone who likes historical fiction, then I would recommend that you go check out Skylark by Patricia MacLachlan. If you are someone who likes realistic fiction as well, you would love this book too.
