One of my favorite things I discovered this summer was yoga! I don’t know what took me so long to give yoga a try, but I love it. In following up with my new discovery of yoga, I decided to pick up a copy of Goodnight Yoga: A Pose-by-Pose Bedtime Story by Mariam Gates.
I like the concept of Goodnight Yoga. It is a picture book that walks kids through relaxing yoga poses as they get ready for bedtime. Each page is introducing a basic yoga pose while it is simultaneously providing its readers with the opportunity to stretch and relax before bedtime.
If you are looking for a yoga-inspired bedtime story, then this book is for you. It provides a new element to the reading experience that I think some kids will really enjoy and benefit from. I would say that this book is geared towards younger readers. I think upper elementary and middle school readers will find this book a little babyish, but those preschoolers will devour the chance to copy the yoga moves they learn in the story.
